your privacy

We don’t track you to scan a link

SafeToOpen is built privacy-first. Scanning a link doesn’t require an account, and we never sell data or use it for advertising.

  • No account, no sign-up, and no tracking cookies to use the scanner.
  • We don’t sell your data or use it to serve ads — ever.
  • We don’t share scan data with third parties unless legally required.
  • By default a scanned URL is saved so we can generate a shareable result link.
  • Prefer not to save it? Tick “Don’t store this scan” and nothing is written to our database.
faq

Questions, answered

It opens the link in a sandbox and analyses the live page — its appearance, structure and behaviour — to judge whether it’s safe, suspicious, malicious, or phishing, usually within seconds.
Yes — it’s free, and there’s no account or sign-up. Just paste a link and scan it. If you’d like always-on protection while you browse or check email, that’s what the browser and email tools are for.
Instead of relying only on lists of already-reported sites, it reads the page as it loads and recognises a fake by what it actually is — so it can flag zero-day phishing that no blocklist knows yet.
Safe — nothing harmful found. Suspicious — traits worth caution. Phishing — appears built to steal logins or personal details. Malicious — tries to harm your device or data. Unrated — not enough information to judge, so treat it with care.
Don’t enter any passwords, card numbers or personal details, and close the page. If a message or email led you there, don’t reply to it. You can report the link so others are protected too.
It’s a strong signal, not a guarantee — no scanner is perfect, and false positives or negatives can happen. Treat it as one input, and when money or accounts are involved, verify through official channels too. See our Terms.
Yes — false positives can happen. You can request a review and a legitimate site will be re-checked and unblocked.
By default we save the scanned URL and its result so we can generate a shareable link (it uses a SHA-256 hash of the URL). If you’d rather we didn’t, tick “Don’t store this scan” before scanning. We never sell data, never use it for ads, and don’t share it with third parties unless legally required.
